During the summer of 2024, Flox Robotics successfully implemented an autonomous drone-based solution to manage geese populations across three public beaches. The project aimed to improve public spaces by reducing goose presence while ensuring humane and effective deterrence.

Key Results

  • Over 7,600 geese were identified across Sätrabadet, Långholmen, and Maltesholmsbadet.
  • 95% overall repellence efficiency achieved, surpassing the target of 90%.
  • No signs of habituation—the geese did not adapt to the deterrence methods.
  • Species-specific success: 100% effectiveness in managing barnacle geese and 94% for Canada geese.

How It Worked

Flox’s AI-driven drones actively monitored and deterred geese using adaptive acoustic deterrents. A citizen-powered reporting system enabled real-time response, ensuring effective and targeted interventions.

Public Engagement & Feedback

  • 287 citizen reports were submitted, helping optimize response times.
  • Positive public feedback emphasized the improvement in beach conditions and support for the initiative.
