Boo Egendom is a historic Swedish estate dedicated to agriculture, forestry, and wildlife management, cultivating primarily wheat across 15,000 hectares. Every year, fallow deer cause substantial crop damage, leading to annual losses of up to 400,000 SEK and threatening farm productivity. Traditional deterrents like fencing, hunting, and feeding sites have had limited success, and previous low-tech trials failed to provide a sustainable, long-term solution.
To address this challenge, we partnered with Boo Egendom to protect crops. Using species-specific deterrence signals and continuous monitoring, the system intervened when deer entered protected fields during day and night.
Effective Wildlife Deterrence: Over the trial, 2,292 animals were detected, with 87% successfully deterred, significantly reducing crop damage risk.
Adaptive Performance: The system learned and improved over time, refining deterrence signals based on wildlife behavior analysis.
Scalable Solution: The strong results pave the way for larger-scale deployments, offering a proactive, non-invasive approach to protect farmlands from wildlife impact.
