Mining sites pose a serious risk to wildlife—despite fencing and traditional deterrents, animals like moose and reindeer frequently wander into active mining zones, risking injury and disrupting operations. Preventing these incidents is crucial for both safety and environmental responsibility, yet existing solutions have proven insufficient.
To tackle this challenge, Boliden deployed has deployed Flox Edge alpha devices across four mining sites in Northern Sweden. Using real-time species detection and adaptive deterrence, these systems automatically guide animals away from hazardous areas—without harming them.
By preventing wildlife accidents, Boliden reduces both ecological impact and operational disruptions, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship.
