As one of Europe’s busiest airports, Barcelona Airport operates at the intersection of heavy air traffic and complex environmental conditions. Despite its coastal location, the airport faces significant ground-based wildlife challenges—particularly from foxes and wild hogs entering airside areas, posing serious risks to aircraft operations and ground safety.
In June 2025, Barcelona Airport, in collaboration with AENA Group and their innovation team, initiated a partnership with Flox to tackle these risks more proactively. By deploying Flox Edge alpha devices with our Wildlife Platform, the airport now uses AI-powered detection and adaptive deterrence to monitor and prevent wildlife intrusions—before they become a threat.
The ongoing deployment is part of AENA’s broader innovation strategy, aiming to modernize wildlife control through precision technology, reduce reliance on manual patrols, and enhance both safety and animal welfare across airport grounds.
