AI/Data Engineer

Position Overview:

Are you passionate about data and artificial intelligence, with a strong interest in building systems that solve real-world problems? Do you want to work in a dynamic scale-up environment, helping develop cutting-edge AI-driven wildlife management solutions? If so, Flox could be your ideal next step!

Flox, based in Stockholm, is looking for a talented AI/Data Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a key part in building the infrastructure that powers Flox’s AI models, handling large-scale data from trains, drones, and stationary devices for real-time wildlife detection and management. This hybrid position offers the flexibility of remote work, while allowing you to contribute to the development of one of the world’s most advanced wildlife management platforms.

You will collaborate closely with data scientists, AI engineers, and product teams to design, implement, and optimize the data pipelines that feed into our machine learning models. Your work will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy, scalability, and performance of our AI solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Engineering & Infrastructure:
    • Design and maintain scalable data pipelines for collecting, processing, and storing large volumes of wildlife-related data from multiple devices and sensors.
    • Develop and manage data architectures that support real-time processing and AI model integration across Flox’s platform.
    • Optimize the infrastructure for both performance and scalability to handle growing data needs.
  • AI Model Integration:
    • Collaborate with AI and machine learning teams to ensure seamless integration of data pipelines with AI models for wildlife detection and classification.
    • Support the deployment and monitoring of AI models in production, ensuring data flows effectively between systems.
    • Develop tools and APIs that enable efficient access to and processing of data for model training and evaluation.
  • Data Processing & Optimization:
    • Implement efficient data preprocessing techniques, including data cleaning, feature extraction, and transformation, to prepare data for AI model training.
    • Ensure data integrity and quality across all stages of the pipeline, working with raw sensor data and real-time data streams.
    • Utilize cloud-based data storage and compute solutions (e.g., AWS, GCP) to process large-scale datasets.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork:
    • Work closely with data scientists, product engineers, and platform developers to design solutions that meet business and technical needs.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of data infrastructure, driving innovation and scalability in how we manage and utilize wildlife data.
    • Collaborate on building data visualization and analytics tools to provide insights for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a data engineer or AI/data engineer, with a strong focus on building scalable data pipelines and integrating with AI models.
  • Expertise in data engineering tools and technologies such as Python, SQL, and ETL frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, Spark).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) for data storage, processing, and model deployment.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML model development workflows and how data pipelines support them.
  • Experience working with large-scale, real-time data from IoT devices, sensors, or similar sources is a plus.
  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Swedish is a bonus.
