Head of Sales & Business Development

FLOX Robotics is on the lookout for an entrepreneurial and seasoned Head of Sales & Business Development to lay the foundation and spearhead our sales and business development operations. This is a unique opportunity to be the first full-time sales and business development professional in our fast-growing startup, offering the chance to truly make your mark. 

As our Head of Sales & Business Development, you will report directly to the CEO and will join the executive leadership team of the company. You’ll be the driving force behind our commercial strategy, leveraging your expertise in various sectors and your ability to engage directly with partners, and hands on negotiate deals. You will also be responsible for managing our current partnerships and ensuring customer success, further solidifying our market presence and enhancing our reputation for delivering value.

The role demands a hands-on approach, with the candidate not only devising strategies but also actively engaging in sales and business development activities. As we expand, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading our sales and development teams, shaping the future of our commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Sales and Business Development:
    • Design and implement innovative sales strategies and business development initiatives targeting diverse markets such as airports, municipalities, farmers, forest owners, transportation authorities, and the seed sector, with a special focus on the Nordics and the US.
    • Develop and execute pioneering commercial strategies, leveraging deep knowledge of the seed sector to drive growth, market penetration, and identify new market opportunities.
    • Lead efforts to cultivate strategic partnerships within various industries, maximizing revenue streams and market presence.
  • Hands-On Sales Engagement:
    • Engage hands-on in all aspects of the sales process, from lead generation to closing deals, demonstrating an exceptional ability to drive results.
    • Take a hands-on approach to licensing and sales, directly engaging with customers, leading negotiations, and driving licensing and sales initiatives to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Customer Offerings and Pricing:
    • Create compelling customer offerings and pricing models from scratch, tailored to the unique needs of our tech services, the markets we serve, and the target sector.
  • Team Building and Leadership:
    • Lay the groundwork for, and subsequently build, a high-performing sales and business development team as the company scales. Lead business and licensing negotiations, contract review, and management of documents including Partnership Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), and Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs).
  • Collaboration and Partnership Management:
    • Responsible for guaranteeing the delivery of milestones within existing collaborations and for fostering mutually beneficial collaborations.
    • Forge strong, lasting relationships with key stakeholders, including seed companies, agricultural organizations, research institutions, and other relevant partners.
  • Strategic Alignment and Market Analysis:
    • Collaborate with product development to ensure sales strategies are perfectly aligned with our innovative product offerings.
    • Analyze market trends and customer feedback to continually refine and improve our sales approaches and offerings.
    • Collaborate with research and development to identify and prioritize crop, technology, and market combinations that align with strategic business objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant experience working in Sales, Business development or Alliance / Partnership management.
  • Proven track record of success in commercial or business development roles, with a deep understanding of its nuances and dynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage directly with partners, negotiate deals, drive sales and licensing deals, and together with strategic partners coordinate field trials in a competitive market environment.
  • A strong, international network is needed to succeed in this role.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a passion for shaping commercial strategy and driving revenue growth.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Fluency in English and Swedish is essential for this role.
  • Ability to adapt to rapid changes and be flexible in taking on various tasks as needs arises as well as the ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience from being part of a scale-up journey, or a comprehensive insight into the process of scaling a business from its early stages.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with a hands-on approach and the capacity to work independently, setting and achieving ambitious targets.
  • Understanding of the markets we aim to serve, including the ability to navigate cultural landscapes in the Nordics and the US.

Position details

The position is full time and permanent, a six month probationary period will be applied. 

Location: Stockholm, Sweden.

Hybrid position.

Start date: April 1, 2024.
