FLOX joins GUARDIANS to revolutionize farming practices for European farmers
Published: June 22, 2023
FLOX is excited to announce its participation in the groundbreaking project GUARDIANS, aimed at empowering small- and medium-sized farms in Europe through digital innovation. This collaboration will enable FLOX to scale its cutting-edge solutions and provide European farmers with the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly competitive industry.
GUARDIANS focuses on understanding the challenges faced by small- and medium-sized farmers in their daily activities, as well as the technological gap that hinders their ability to compete with larger food producers. The project proposes the use of digital innovative solutions to bridge this gap and empower smaller farms to adopt sustainable farming approaches. By leveraging digital technologies, these farms can become more productive, resilient, and economically viable, while also minimizing their environmental impact.
The project is co-funded by Horizon Europe – the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2021-2027), with a total budget of 4,995,388.75 €, out of which 221,288 € has been granted to FLOX.
As part of the GUARDIANS consortium, FLOX will contribute with its autonomous wildlife management solutions for the agricultural sector. A total of nine digital innovative solutions will be tested and piloted in 19 small- and medium-sized farms across Spain, Italy, Sweden, the UK, and Czechia. Through the upscaling and replication phase, these solutions are expected to benefit a total of 215 farmers.
The objectives of the GUARDIANS project include, amongst others, provision of tailor-made digital innovative solutions: FLOX will develop a wide range of feasible digital solutions specifically designed for small- and medium-sized farms, covering various types of crops and grasslands across Europe. Simultaneously, FLOX will demonstrate strategies for the successful implementation of its wildlife management solutions in small farms, ensuring they are tailored to the farmers’ needs and easily adopted by them.
By participating in the GUARDIANS project, FLOX aims to advance the maturity of its solutions and contribute to the sustainable transformation of European agriculture. The collaboration with other consortium members, including agricultural cooperatives, research and technology organizations, and agrifood hubs, will ensure a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to addressing the challenges faced by small- and medium-sized farms.
“We are thrilled to be part of the GUARDIANS project and work alongside other industry leaders to empower European farmers,” said Sara Nozkova, CEO & co-founder of FLOX. “Through our innovative solutions, we aim to bridge the technological gap and enable smaller farms to thrive in a competitive landscape and maximize their crop production while coexisting with wildlife in their area. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission of driving sustainable agriculture and supporting the success of farmers.”
The project kickoff was held in Asturias, Spain on June 21-22 where all the consortium had the first opportunity to meet and begin the collaboration across Europe.
